Real Foodies Avoid Pink Slime

Just a brief musing on the whole “pink slime” debate. This is not intended to tread ground that is already WAY over-tread. I just wanted to say that most of the recent news stories about the use of “pink slime” in commercial ground beef production miss an important point: true grass-fed beef producers do not add pink slime to their meat.

Thus, real foodies do not really need to concern themselves about pink slime. Getting the word out to others about this fact, though, could help both those others and the real food community as a whole without the need to investigate their/our meat sources beyond knowing that they are grass-fed.

If your beef is not on grass, enjoy the pink slime (or the effort required to determine that there is not pink slime in it).

Yet another great reason to buy real food from real farmers you know and trust.
